Quality requirement (in reclaiming used lubricating oil)

To reclaim / recycle used oil (lubricating / engine, etc.) it is essential that the grade of Activated Bleaching Earth used must not only comply with high standards of quality but also it must not create environment problems (at the end of the reclamation process, the residual sludge / waste must be as less as possible so that its disposal should be easier, cheaper and must be less harmful to the environment).  As such waste disposal is raising much environmental concern due to the use of cheaper grades, the demand of higher quality of bleaching earth is increasing.

Difference between Low and High grades (in reclaiming used lubricating oil)

Of course lower grade can be cheaper in cost but are much disadvantageous since more quantity is required, more transportation cost, more storage space, more quantity of residual sludge, less environment friendly, more oil retention/waste, possibility of color reversal, and so on.   If carefully calculated, at the end the use of higher grades, though seems costlier, appears economical and also offers all the possible advantages which cheaper grades do not.
